PORTABLE WIRELESS – UP/DN WARNING SYSTEM (011212)

This project “RAKSHAK” has been conceived with the idea of providing wireless safety warning system to the work force – working along the Railway tracks, about the approaching trains.

For this purpose, coded signals are transmitted to indicate UP/DN approaching train. Signal strength is strong enough to be detected & decoded, by the Receivers [Rakshak], under “LINE-OF-SIGHT” condition.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:-

DIGITAL SIGNAL RECEIVER: RAKSHAK: [ACES MAKE MODEL NO.:- DSR-20-1]

• RAKSHAK will receive transmitted signal by Portable UP / DN Transmitter – [ACES MAKE MODEL NO.:- DSM25S-UDM-1], within the “Line of Sight” condition & within coverage distance.
• RAKSHAK will give respective LED indication along with Buzzer & Vibration to indicate type of signals received.
• To indicate “UP” condition, LED will blink, Buzzer will short Beeps for 3 times & Vibrator will vibrate for 3 times of about 1 sec duration each. Buzzer & Vibrations will stop but LED will continue to blink for about 20 sec. or till the “UP” signal is received.
• To indicate “DN” condition, LED will blink, Buzzer will beep [Long Beep] & Vibrator will vibrate for 1 time of about 3 sec’s duration. Buzzer & vibrations will stop but LED will continue to blink for about 20 sec. or till the “DN” signal is received.
• When Rakshak is able to receive Transmitted “RANGE” signal (within Range) both “UP” & “DN” LED blink twice without any Buzzer or Vibrator.
• When Rakshak is not able to receive Transmitted “RANGE” signal (Out of Range) only two beep of Buzzer sound will come without any LED or Vibrator.
• RAKSHAK has power ON/OFF switch to conserve battery power when not in use. Different ON & OFF indications are provided.

OTHER:-

• Housing is small pocket model (Mobile phone type) with built in antenna and rechargeable Battery. Battery will last for about 8 hrs (when fully charged) with “UP or DN” indications.
• A battery monitoring circuit, with over-charging protection, is provided within the RAKSHAK unit.
• RAKSHAK [DSR-20-1] has facility to connect external Battery Charger, operating at 220VAC.
• Receive function of RAKSHAK will stop when the Charger unit is plugged in.
• “Low Batt” & “Battery Charging” status are indicated by LED.
  • RAKSHAK has belt-hanging arrangement.

NOTE:

• To switch ON the Rakshak, keep the ON-OFF switch Pressed for about 5 Sec. Both UP & DN LED will blink twice along with 2 buzzer beeps.
• To switch OFF the Rakshak, keep the ON-OFF switch Pressed for about 5 Sec. Only two Buzzer beeps will be heard without any LED or Vibrations, Buzzer.

Portable UP / DN Transmitter – [ACES MAKE MODEL NO.:- DSM25S-UDM-1]

• This is a Transmitter unit which will be normally placed in the Station Master Room. Antenna for this unit, will be mounted at substantial height in free air on EXISTING ANTENNA TOWER – provided & permitted by Railway authorities, and will be connected to Transmitter through suitable RF cable.
• This system consists of:
  • Digital Signal Modulator (DSM25S),
  • Antenna with Cable,
  • Built in 12V/7AH Maintenance Free Battery,
  • Built in Battery Charger – working on 220V AC.
• This system will operate at 220V AC supply.
• This system is incorporated with 12V DC Maintenance Free Battery with charger for non-interrupted working. Charger will have a 13.8V / 2 Amp CVCC modes for charging the Battery.
• This system will transmit signals at 160.450 MHz carrier Frequency.
• Each System will have its own unique 5 digit ID code.
• Trigger to this system can be applied Manually or Automatically – using potential free contact of Signalling Relay from Relay Room.
• As soon as Trigger is applied, this system will start transmitting respective “UP” &/or “DN” signal.
• This system will transmit this UP / DN signal approximately once every 20 seconds.
• This system will transmit “RANGE” signal approximately once every 60 seconds.
• Respective Blinking LED (UP &/or DN) will indicate that transmitter is active.
• A suitable Antenna will be connected through cable to this system to radiate RF signals in free air.
• Transmitted signal will be received by ACES make “RAKSHAK” under “LINE-OF-SIGHT” conditions up to coverage distance.
• RF output power to the Antenna load is more than 15 watts at 12 Volt DC.
